The Us character in Baldur’s Gate 3 is considered an Aberration but one we can keep as a companion if we wish. They start with low Health and even lower AC. They don’t have any resistances, but they can use Blindsight, Darkvision, and Opportunity Attacks. Their strength is relatively low, but they are a great companion for the beginning portion of your game while you are trying to escape the Nautiloid ship. Where to Find Us in Baldur’s Gate 3
You come across Us very early on in your journey. As soon as you finish the beginning cutscenes of the game, you can hear Us speak to you from somewhere in the room you start in. Regardless of whether you choose to take Us as your companion, you must talk to them to progress through the Escape the Nautiloid quest, so finding Us should be easy.
Once you explore a bit, you should notice a Sphincter that marks the doorway into the next room. Interact with it, then head through. In the center of the next room, a platform will act as an elevator with a Nautilus Apparatus at the front of it. Stand on the platform, then interact with the Apparatus to start the elevator. Once you’re at the next level, you will notice a body lying on a table. When you approach and interact with it, a cutscene will begin, displaying an open brain hanging out of the body’s head. This is the first place you encounter Us.
Us will beg you to save them, to free them from the body they are trapped in. Several different options will arise. You can either save the brain or attempt to mutilate it so that it may not cause any harm to you. However, if you are trying to get Us as a companion in Baldur’s Gate 3, we suggest attempting to save the Aberration by any means possible so that it may help you in future fights.
How to Save Us
To Save Us, you must perform a successful roll to get them out of the body they are currently stuck in, then choose to free them rather than mutilate them. The difficulty class of each roll is less than 15, and you can play on your character’s strengths. Choose a method of freeing them that allows your character to increase their check with proficiencies.
For instance, if you are a Wizard, you might do a Wisdom or Intelligence roll; if you are a Barbarian, you should attempt a Strength roll. Once you’ve freed Us and you speak with them, choose to head to the helm with them, and they will join your party to fight alongside you.
