You’ll need to make a chest shortly after arriving at your new farm in Stardew Valley. Having a chest might not seem like a big deal when you’re just learning to play the game, but it plays a significant role. When you explore your farm for the first time, you’ll likely notice the ten inventory slots in your hot bar. These are the only inventory slots you have available at the beginning of the game, so creating some extra space to store important items is essential. Making a Chest in Stardew Valley
Soon after you’ve started the game, your inventory will be full of items. Now, you can make a couple of choices at this point. You can either sell the items or make a chest in Stardew Valley and save them to use later. Selling the items will only mean you’ll have to collect them again to use them in the future or even go out and purchase them. Neither option is ideal, making using a chest the way to go.
If you pull up the crafting tab, marked by a hammer icon, in your inventory and scroll over to the chest, you’ll see only one required resource. For a chest, you will need 50 Wood. Luckily, wood is easy to come by in Stardew Valley, and you can get it by chopping down some of the many trees littering your new farm.

Chopping down trees is a simple task within the game and should take you only a little bit of time. All you have to do is scroll over to your axe in your toolbar and work on chopping down some of the trees surrounding your house. You should only have to chop down 4 or 5 trees to have the required 50 Wood to make your chest in Stardew Valley.
Once you’ve collected all the wood you need, have at least one empty inventory slot and return to the crafting tab in your menu. Select the chest, which will automatically appear in your inventory, provided you have the required materials.
