The Lystrosaurus is one of the first creatures you will encounter in Ark Survival Evolved and one of the first creatures you will tame. The Lystrosaurus is the first passive tame you will also come across. Passive tames, like the Lystrosaurus, are a bit different than the usual dinosaurs that you would typically knock out and force-feed while they are unconscious. Passive tames require you to feed them while they are still fully awake and wandering around the map. Below, we’ll discuss how to tame a Lystrosaurus in Ark Survival Evolved.
When you first approach a Lystrosaurus, you may notice a message saying you must put taming food in your last inventory slot. You can use three different types of food to tame a Lystrosaurus in Ark Survival Evolved. Below is a table explaining the different food types and feeding intervals for a level 1 wild Lystrosaurus.
