PlayStation Showcase 2023: What Do We Have to Look Forward to

Buckle up, everyone. It’s finally time for the PlayStation Showcase, and boy, do they have some great stuff for us this year! We have brand new game releases, and PlayStation also announced the new VR2 games coming this year, along with some upcoming hardware releases. We are excited. Keep reading to learn about all of the upcoming releases that were shown in the 2023 PlayStation Showcase.

PlayStation Showcase 2023 Announcements

Helldivers 2 announced in PlayStation Showcase 2023

PlayStation started off the showcase with the release of Helldivers 2, which is set to release later in 2023. Helldivers 2 looks fantastic with its first-person shooter style this time, a significant change from the original 2015 Helldivers

Immortals of Aveum by EA and Ascendant Studios

The next game to look forward to is Immortals of Aveum, an all-new first-person shooter with magical elements. Created by EA and Ascendant Studios, this game will surely be unforgettable. Immortals of Aveum will release on July 20, 2023.

Next, we’ve got Ghostrunner 2. The release date is set for later in 2023, but we have yet to set an exact day. Ghostrunner 2 is the sequel to 505 Games’ Ghostrunner, released in 2021. 

Phantom Blade Zero Release

Phantom World, many different types of powers reside, as creator Soulframe Liang explains. The main character you play in the game is a powerful assassin. Phantom Blade Zero is set to release in the future, though no timeframe is given. 

Sword of the Sea Release

Sword of the Sea is Giant Squid’s latest game creation. Featuring beautiful block-like art styles, we have not learned much about the game since its first trailer was released. Though, the game is on the right track to being released soon. 

The Talos Principle 2 Release

The Talos Principle 2 is an indie game that’s sure to exercise your mind. The game’s art style is elegant and both futuristic and historical. Be ready to solve many puzzles and get lost in the game’s story. The Talos Principle 2 is set to release later in 2023.

Cat Quest: Pirates of the Purribean Release

The Cat Quest series continues with another exciting title. Cat Quest: Pirates of the Purribean is set to release for PS4 and PS5 in 2024. The art styles in this game are adorable and will surely be hard to pull your eyes off when the game finally releases!

Foamstars Release

The next big game to be released is FoamstarsFoamstars is a fun and colorful game that looks exciting and fun! This party-style shooter has similarities to SplatoonFoamstars will be available on PS4 and PS5 at a later date. 

The Plucky Squire Release

The Plucky Squire dabbles in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional play as it switches between realms. In the game, you must take down the antagonist, Humpgrump, all the while traversing multiple realms. The Plucky Squire is set to be released in 2023. 

Teardown Release

Next up, we have Teardown, a blocky-styled game that resembles Minecraft– but with more destruction. The trailer features bombs, explosions, and cars, all of which you can witness firsthand in the future. 

Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater Release

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater is finally releasing, along with the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection. The game’s trailer gives us chills as it starts with a bird scooping a frog. However, the bird soon meets its demise in the eyes of a massive snake. 

Towers of Aghasba Release

The next game shown in the PlayStation 2023 Showcase is Towers of Aghasba, a crazy-looking fantasy game with paragliders, massive creatures, and even city-building. Towers of Aghasba is sure to be a big hit. 

Final Fantasy XVI Release

Finally, the release we’ve all been waiting for. Final Fantasy XVI appeared at the showcase today and will be released on June 22, 2023. 

Alan Wake 2 Release

Next, we’ve got Alan Wake 2, the sequel we’ve been waiting 13 years for. The game follows the path of the original and will be released this October. 

Assassin's Creed: Mirage Release

Following the Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed: Mirage brings us back to all the stealth we could ever hope for. Look for the game on October 12, 2023, or pre-order it now! 

Street Fighter 6 Release

We’ve already heard loads about the upcoming release of Street Fighter 6, but now we have a release date to go with the game. Look for the game on June 2, 2023, or pre-order it now!

Tower of Fantasy PS5 Release

Tower of Fantasy has been around for quite a while now, being that it’s one of the highest-rated free-to-play games, right along with Genshin Impact. Though, until now, it was only available on mobile and PC. Now, it’s finally being released on PS4 and PS5. 

Though the Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted 2 trailer is short and sweet, there is no doubt that the game will be incredibly dark and twisted.

Marathon Release

Bungie is finally releasing a new game after the long waiting period after Destiny 2. Bungie’s Marathon has many of the same mechanics as Destiny 2 but with an entirely new art style. 

The Final Shape Release

Even though Destiny 2’s latest expansion was just released earlier this year, back in February, we’re already on track for the next and final expansion to be released before the year ends. Look for The Final Shape on August 22, 2023.

Spider Man 2 Release

The final game release in the PlayStation Showcase 2023 is one we’ve been waiting for. Spider-Man 2 is finally en-route to release, and we can’t wait!
